Hostinger in Practice: Modern Hosting for Websites and Online Stores
Fast LiteSpeed servers, data centers in Europe and a straightforward dashboard at a fair price. What Hostinger delivers for WordPress and WooCommerce, which plan fits and where its limits are.
Alexander Quilitzsch

Hosting is the foundation of every website. You don't see it, but you notice it right away: in loading times, in availability and, at the latest, when your store goes offline at two in the morning. Still, it is often chosen on price alone and then left unquestioned for years.
Over the past few years, Hostinger has become one of the best-known hosting providers in Europe. In this article, I look at what is behind the offer, which projects it suits and what to watch out for when you sign up.
Modern technology instead of standard hosting
Many budget hosts still run classic Apache servers. Hostinger runs its web and cloud plans on LiteSpeed web servers, and that is a real advantage for WordPress:
- Page cache built into the server. Together with the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin, finished pages are served from memory instead of being rebuilt by PHP on every request. How to choose the right optimization plugin is covered in Making WordPress faster.
- NVMe storage from the Unlimited plan upward, considerably faster than conventional SSDs.
- Current PHP versions from 8.2 to 8.5, with PHP 8.3 as the default, switchable in one click.
- Object cache from the Unlimited plan upward, important for WooCommerce, because the cart and customer account must not be served from the page cache.
- Built-in CDN that delivers files from servers close to your visitors.
Data centers in Europe and data protection
For companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, server location matters. Hostinger operates data centers in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Lithuania and the United Kingdom. You choose the location yourself when you order and can change it later in the dashboard.
Hostinger provides a data processing agreement under the GDPR. It is part of the terms of service and applies as soon as you sign up, without anything to sign separately.
Security and availability
- Free SSL certificate for every domain, set up automatically.
- Malware scanner in all web and cloud plans. It checks your website's files and removes some known malware automatically.
- Server-side protection with a web application firewall (mod_security) and DDoS mitigation.
- Automatic backups, weekly or daily depending on the plan.
- ISO 27001 certification for its information security management.
- 99.9% uptime, guaranteed by contract.
In addition to the server firewall, it pays to add protection inside WordPress itself. I compare the options in WordPress firewalls compared.
hPanel: management without a computer science degree
Instead of cPanel, Hostinger uses its own interface called hPanel. It is tidy and easy to follow, even for beginners: installing WordPress, connecting a domain, creating mailboxes, changing the PHP version or restoring a backup all take just a few clicks. From the Unlimited plan upward, there is a staging environment where you can test updates and changes before they go live.
The plans at a glance
As of October 2026, according to Hostinger's pricing page. Introductory prices apply to a 48-month term.
| Premium | Unlimited | Cloud Startup | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Introductory price | €2.99 / month | €3.99 / month | €7.99 / month |
| Renewal | €9.99 / month | €16.99 / month | €23.99 / month |
| Websites | 3 | unlimited* | unlimited* |
| Storage | 20 GB SSD | 50 GB NVMe | 100 GB NVMe |
| CPU / RAM | 1 core / 2 GB | 2 cores / 3 GB | 4 cores / 4 GB |
| Backups | weekly | daily | daily and on demand |
| Staging and object cache | no | yes | yes |
| Domain for the first year | included | included | included |
* subject to the fair use policy
My take:
- Premium is enough for a small company website or a one-pager. For online stores, it lacks object cache, staging and daily backups.
- Unlimited is the best compromise for most company websites and smaller WooCommerce stores.
- Cloud Startup is what I recommend for stores with regular sales and high-traffic websites. Here you get considerably more dedicated resources.
Where the limits are
An honest recommendation includes what is less good:
- Renewal prices. After the first term, the plan costs several times the introductory price. So budget with the renewal price, not the teaser offer, and take the long initial term if you are sure.
- No phone support. Support runs around the clock via live chat, WhatsApp and email. An AI assistant answers first, and a human takes over when needed.
- Resource limits. Even "unlimited" has limits on CPU, memory and number of files. For large stores with thousands of products or heavy concurrent traffic, a cloud or VPS plan is the better choice.
- Malware scanner for files only. It does not detect malicious code in the database. An additional security solution in WordPress therefore still makes sense.
Who Hostinger is a good fit for
Hostinger is a good fit if you
- run a WordPress website or a small to medium-sized WooCommerce store,
- want fast loading times without server administration,
- prefer a server location in the EU,
- and are fine with chat support instead of phone support.
If, on the other hand, you expect personal phone support or run a store with very high traffic, consider specialized managed hosts or a dedicated server.
